Error message "Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Symptoms

  • “Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services“ error.

  • The Robot Manager fails installing with error "verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services".

  • OS Application Logs showing MSI Installer Event ID 11920 / 11923

    • Log Name: Application

    • Level: Error

    • Event ID: 11923

  • You cannot locate any GSX logs for the Robot Manager install.

Cause

User that is logged on does not have sufficient privileges to install system services.

Solution

  • Click on Start and type ‘Edit Group Policy’ and press ENTER.

  • Navigate to Group Policy Object Editor > Local Computer Policy.

  • In the console tree, navigate to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies >User Rights Assignment.

  • In the details pane, double-click Log on as a service.

  • Click Add User or Group.

  • Add the account to the list of accounts that have the Log on as a service right.

Make sure that the Windows Installer service is started and enabled:

  • Click on Start and type ‘Services.msc’ and press ENTER.

  • Right-click the Windows Installer service, and then click Properties.

  • If the Startup type box is set to Disabled, change it to Automatic.

  • Click OK to close the Properties window.

  • Right-click the Windows Installer service, and then click Start.
